The Deutsche Musikfest is hosted by the Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Musikverbände e.V. The BDMV is the umbrella organization of Germany’s honorarily organized amateur wind music scene. It has 1.3 million members and is therefore Germany’s largest music association. The BDMV includes 21 unions with a total of 11,000 member associations and 18,000 ensembles.

The BDMV represents political and public interests on federal and national level and advises its members on management, tax and legal issues.

The Deutsche Musikfest is the BDMV’s biggest happening and flagship event.

Also involved in the creation of the Deutsche Musikfest is the Deutsche Bläserjugend which is the BDMV’s youth organization. The Deutsche Bläserjugend is the interest representative of all young people up to the age 27 in the member associations and primarily advocates for the musical and cultural youth education as well as youth-related political issues. It represents 350,000 children and adolescents. The Deutsche Bläserjugend acts as the central department for the allocation of funds from the Federal Government’s Child and Youth Plan for international youth encounters and as agency for the Federal Voluntary Service in the fields of culture and education. It carries out model projects, sets framework guidelines for a qualified education of young people and links multipliers.
